"Interview With The Timster"

Scott Vyper - Hey everyone, I'm here with the man of the site, Tim Towers! Now Tim, What year did you first start?
Tim Towers - I was trained by the late great, Professor Boris Malenko and his son Dean in 1991. After 12 weeks, I had my first "exhibition" at the school in June of 91.
Scott Vyper - Did you enjoy it when you first started and why?
Tim Towers - Of course, I enjoyed it. I think the best part of the Malenko camp was that you were all business in the ring. No screwing around. Outside the ring, Mr. Malenko would pull you aside and praise you for working hard, and got on ya when your focus wasn't there. He was a true father figure!
Scott Vyper - What other names have you used?
Tim Towers - At first, I used my real name, Tim Steele. With a little seasoning (and attitude) I became "Real Deal" Tim Steele (hey it was like 91-92 the gimmick years). The Gravedigger was created in 93. 'Diggers first victim has gone on to be a top-notch Florida indy wrestler, his name is Buck Q. Tim Towers came along in 95 when 'Digger was taking a turn too much like the Undertaker. Tim Towers ran across Florida wrestling the likes of TJ Gangster (Tommy Dollar) and the Russian Assassin (not the original). Since then Tim Towers has been taking names and kicking butt!
Scott Vyper - What was your favorite alias?
Tim Towers - Favorite Character was 'Digger, because it got me in the ring with some top Florida names. Nasty Ned (the same Ned mentioned in Mick Foley's first book), Cuban Assassin, Ricky Santana, Chris Nelson and Le Roy Howard Rasta Man/Navy Seal)Randy Fuller and more.
Scott Vyper - How many Independant Federations have you been in?
Tim Towers - In Florida I have worked in the old Suncoast Pro Wrestling, the old WWA(Florida), IWA, FWF, currently working for PCWA, SPWF and I am currently the BTW (Big Time Wrestling) Heavyweight Champion. I have also competed in the notheast and in Georgia.
Scott Vyper - Any particular favorite?
Tim Towers - WWA was my favorite until recently. We sold out the old Tampa Sport-a-torium for 10 straight months until they closed in down many years ago. Just when we were rocking-and-rolling, we had the arena taken from us. I am also very proud of being the reigning BTW champion.
Scott Vyper - How many titles have you held?
Tim Towers - Well, besides BTW, I have been FWF tag team champion with my 7 foot giant partner, Sasquatch. I also held titles in PCWA and IWA.
Scott Vyper - What was the most memorable match you've been in?
Tim Towers - My favorite match was a WWA (Florida) championship bout: Gravedigger VS. the Cuban Assassin. It was a falls-count-anywhere match. I had the Cuban rockin' and reelin' when his buddy Ricky Santana attacked 'Digger from behind with chloroform and Cuban squirmed out with his title.
Scott Vyper - Has the wrestling biz changed between when you first started 'til now?
Tim Towers - The business has changed a lot in the last 10 years, especially in Florida. Sure, there is still plenty of work, but its harder to get an opportunity to "advance". In the old days, they would need more WWF or WCW jobbers than today. So when a person enters a training facility today, there is less of a chance for exposure. It seems that you are more "on your own" than ever before.
Scott Vyper - For kicks and grins, what do you think of V-World?
Tim Towers - website? What website! What is this V-World?
Scott Vyper - Gee, the love, ::laughs:: that's all the question I have. Thanks for being here Tim!
Tim Towers - No prob.
Scott Vyper - Good night everyone!
